HEIC to JPG Free - Convert iPhone Photos
iPhone photos are saved in HEIC format, which many apps and websites can't open. Drop your HEIC or HEIF files here to convert them to universally compatible JPG or PNG. Batch convert dozens of photos at once, choose your quality level, and download individually or as a ZIP. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

When to use it
Photos for a job application portal
On a Mac with Safari, drop the HEIC files, leave "Output format" on JPG and set "Max size (longest side)" to 1920 px (FHD). The JPGs open on any computer and stay small enough for most upload forms.
Send a holiday album to a Windows friend
Select all the HEIC photos from the folder, convert with "Quality" around 85 and press "Download all (ZIP)". Your friend gets one ZIP of ordinary JPG files.
Keep a privacy-safe copy for a listing
Converted files are re-saved without EXIF data, so the location and camera details from the photo are not carried into the JPG you post on a marketplace.
How to use
- Open this page in Safari on your iPhone or Mac (Safari supports HEIC natively). On Windows, set your iPhone to save as JPG first (Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible).
- Drop HEIC/HEIF photos into the box or click to choose them. Multiple files are supported.
- Select JPG as the output format and adjust quality (80% is recommended for a good balance of size and clarity). Press Convert, then download each file or all at once as a ZIP.
How it works
Your browser decodes the HEIC/HEIF file (if it supports the format natively, as Safari does), redraws it on an HTML Canvas element, and re-encodes it as JPG, PNG or WebP at your chosen quality. Multiple results are bundled into a ZIP using fflate. The entire process is client-side: no server, no upload, no cloud storage. EXIF metadata (including GPS location) is stripped during re-encoding, which can be a privacy benefit. How to verify. Also available as a free REST API for developers and AI agents (edge-processed, zero retention).
Browser support note: HEIC decoding depends on the browser and OS. Safari on macOS and iOS handles HEIC natively. Chrome on Windows cannot decode HEIC, so you need to convert photos to JPG on your iPhone first or use Safari. Some newer Android browsers also support HEIC.

FAQ
What is HEIC and why does my iPhone use it?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It produces files roughly half the size of JPG at the same quality, saving storage space on your iPhone.
Why can't I open HEIC photos on Windows?
Windows and Chrome on Windows don't natively support HEIC decoding. You need to convert them to JPG or PNG first. On Mac or iPhone Safari, HEIC opens natively, so conversion works directly in this tool.
How do I stop my iPhone from saving photos as HEIC?
Go to Settings > Camera > Formats and select "Most Compatible." Photos will be saved as JPG instead of HEIC from then on.
Does conversion reduce photo quality?
At 80% JPG quality the difference is nearly invisible while files become universally compatible. For lossless conversion, choose PNG, though files will be larger.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your photos never leave your device, making it safe for personal and sensitive images.
Why do I get an error when I drop HEIC files in Chrome on Windows?
HEIC is decoded by the browser itself and this page does not bundle a decoder. Safari on iPhone or Mac can open it. Elsewhere you will see a message suggesting Safari or the "Most Compatible" camera setting.
Do I keep the original HEIC files?
Yes. Nothing is deleted or changed. The tool only creates new JPG files for you to download.
Will the JPG be smaller than the HEIC?
Usually not. HEIC is very compact, so the tool shows a note that JPG or PNG copies are normally larger. Lower "Quality" or use "Max size" if you need smaller files.
