When to use it

Trim the silence at the start of a recording

Drop the file, drag the left handle ("Selection start") to where the sound begins and keep "Keep selection". Preview with "Play selection", then save with "Save the edited file".

Cut an ad out of a podcast

Mark the section with the handles, pick "Delete selection" under "What to do" and check "Preview the cut". The part you remove is shown in red and the rest is joined.

Make a short alert sound

Keep two or three seconds, set "Fade out (sec)" to about 0.5 and "MP3 quality" to 128 kbps. Short clips stay small and end without a click.

How to use

  1. Drop an MP3 file into the box or click to choose one. The waveform appears.
  2. Drag the selection handles to mark the part you want to keep (or delete). Add fade in/out if needed.
  3. Press Save to download the trimmed MP3 or WAV file.

How it works

Your audio file is decoded by the Web Audio API and displayed as a waveform in your browser. You select a region by dragging handles on the waveform. Choose to keep only that selection or delete it. Optional fade in/out effects are applied as amplitude curves. The result is encoded to MP3 using a JavaScript encoder or saved as uncompressed WAV. Everything happens client-side, so the file never leaves your device. How to verify. Also available as a free REST API for developers and AI agents (edge-processed, zero retention).

FAQ

Can I trim other audio formats besides MP3?

Yes. This tool supports MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and FLAC. Choose any of these as input and save the result as MP3 or WAV.

Can I remove a section from the middle?

Yes. Select the section you want to remove and choose "Delete selection." The remaining audio is joined seamlessly.

What bitrate should I use for MP3?

192 kbps is ideal for music. Use 128 kbps for voice recordings and 320 kbps for the highest quality. WAV is uncompressed but much larger.

Can I add fade in and fade out?

Yes. Set the fade duration in seconds. The volume ramps up at the start and down at the end of the saved region.

Is my audio uploaded?

No. Your file is processed entirely in your browser. It never leaves your device.

Which files can I open?

MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG and FLAC usually work. Some phone call recordings, for example AMR or 3GA, may not be readable by the browser.

Can I save an iPhone ringtone in M4R format?

No. The tool saves MP3 or WAV only, so an iPhone ringtone needs a separate conversion afterwards.

Does saving lower the sound quality?

Saving as MP3 encodes the audio again at 128, 192 or 320 kbps. Choose WAV if you want to keep editing without another lossy step.
