When to use it
Record a how-to for a colleague
Press "Start recording", choose the window to share, tick "Microphone (my voice)" under "Sound" and talk through the steps. Press "Stop and save" and download.
Capture a video call or lesson with sound
Turn on "Computer sound" and, in the share window, switch on "Share system audio" (whole screen on Windows) or "Share tab audio" for a single tab. Chrome or Edge works best for this.
Short clip with a countdown
Set "Countdown" to 3 sec so you can switch windows before it starts, and use "Pause" to skip parts you do not want in the clip.
How to use
- Click Start recording and choose what to share (entire screen, a window, or a browser tab).
- Optionally enable computer sound and/or microphone. Pause and resume as needed.
- Click Stop to finish. Preview the recording and download as MP4.
How it works
Screen capture uses the browser's Screen Capture API (getDisplayMedia) to access your screen, window, or tab. The MediaRecorder API encodes the video stream as MP4 (Chrome/Edge) or WebM (Firefox/Safari). System audio and microphone are captured separately and mixed into the recording. Everything runs client-side in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. The recording exists only in your browser tab until you download it. How to verify. Also available as a free REST API for developers and AI agents (edge-processed, zero retention).

FAQ
Do I need to install anything?
No. Screen capture runs entirely in your web browser. No extensions, plugins, or desktop software needed.
Can I record system audio?
Yes, in Chrome and Edge on Windows. Select "Share system audio" when choosing what to share. Safari and Firefox cannot capture system audio.
Can I record my voice too?
Yes. Enable the microphone option before starting. Your browser will ask for microphone permission.
What format is the recording?
Chrome and Edge save as MP4 (plays everywhere). Firefox and Safari save as WebM.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. The recording exists only in your browser tab and is never uploaded. Download it before closing the tab.
Can I take a still screenshot with this page?
No. It records video only. For a still image, use your operating system shortcut and then edit the picture with the crop tool.
Why is my file WebM and not MP4?
The tool saves MP4 where the browser can record it, otherwise WebM. A note under the options tells you which one you will get.
Does it work on phones?
Phone browsers generally cannot record the screen from a web page. Use the built-in recorder on iPhone or Android, then trim or convert the video with our other tools.
