When to use it

Cut the shaky start and end of a clip

If a phone video begins with some wobble, play it to the frame you want and press "Use current position" for the start. Set the end the same way and press "Trim video" to keep only that part.

Type exact times

To keep a meeting recording from 12:30 to 15:00, type 12:30 as the start and 15:00 as the end. You can enter minutes and seconds or just a number of seconds.

Send one scene from a long event video

To share just the speech from an event recording, trim that range and use "Download". The small file is easy to send in a messaging app.

How to use

  1. Drop a video file into the box or click to choose one.
  2. Set the start and end times. Use "Use current position" for precise timing.
  3. Press Trim video. Preview and download the result.

How it works

Your video is loaded in the browser's native video player. When you trim, the video is played from the start point while frames are captured onto an HTML Canvas and recorded using the MediaRecorder API. The result is encoded as MP4 (Chrome/Edge) or WebM (Firefox/Safari). Because the recording is done in real time, the trimming takes roughly as long as the selected segment. The entire process runs client-side. How to verify. Also available as a free REST API for developers and AI agents (edge-processed, zero retention).

FAQ

What video formats can I trim?

MP4 (H.264), MOV and WebM work in most browsers. HEVC videos from iPhones may only work in Safari.

How long does trimming take?

Trimming runs in roughly real time (a 30-second clip takes about 30 seconds). The video must play through the selected segment.

Is there a watermark?

No. The trimmed video has no watermark, branding or sign-up requirement.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser. The video never leaves your device.

Can I trim long videos?

Yes, though long segments take proportionally longer. Ensure your device has enough memory for the recording.

Is the original quality kept exactly?

No. The tool plays the chosen range and records it again at 30 frames per second, so the result is newly encoded rather than a copy of the original data. Quality and length can differ slightly.

Can I cut out the middle and join the rest?

No. You set one start and one end and the part between is saved. To remove a middle section, trim the front and back parts separately and keep them as two files.

My AVI or MKV file will not open.

The listed formats are MP4, MOV and WebM. If your browser cannot play the file, it will not open and the tool suggests trying MP4 (H.264) or WebM.
