When to use it

Image saved from a website as WebP

Drop the file, leave "Output format" on JPG and "Quality" at 85. The JPG opens in office programs, older photo viewers and upload forms that reject WebP.

A whole folder of product pictures

Select all the WebP files, convert them together and take the ZIP with "Download all (ZIP)". Check "Saved" to see the combined change in size.

WebP with a see-through background

Transparent areas become white in JPG. If you need transparency, choose PNG as the output instead.

How to use

  1. Drop WebP images into the box or click to choose them.
  2. Set the output format to JPG and adjust quality (80-90% recommended).
  3. Press Convert and download JPG files individually or all at once as a ZIP.

How it works

Each WebP image is decoded by your browser (all modern browsers support WebP) and drawn onto an HTML Canvas element. The canvas is then re-encoded as JPEG at your chosen quality. Transparent areas become white since JPEG does not support transparency. The entire process happens locally in your browser using standard Web APIs, so your files are never sent to any server. How to verify. Also available as a free REST API for developers and AI agents (edge-processed, zero retention).

FAQ

Why can't I open WebP files?

Some older apps, email clients and image viewers do not support WebP. Converting to JPG makes the image compatible with virtually everything.

Does the conversion lose quality?

There is some quality loss because JPG uses lossy compression. At 85-90% quality, the difference is imperceptible for most images.

What about transparent WebP images?

JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent areas become white. Convert to PNG instead if you need to keep transparency.

Can I convert many WebP files at once?

Yes. Drop or select multiple files and convert them all at your chosen settings. Download individually or as a ZIP.

Are my images uploaded?

No. All conversion happens in your browser. Images never leave your device.

Will an animated WebP stay animated?

No. The result is a single still JPG, so the animation is lost.

Why is my JPG bigger than the WebP?

WebP is usually more efficient, so a JPG at the same quality can be larger. Lower "Quality" or use "Max size" to bring it down.

Does it work on every browser?

The page uses your browser to open the WebP, and current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari can. Very old browsers may not read WebP.
