JPG to PNG Converter Free - Lossless Quality
Convert JPG images to PNG for lossless quality. PNG is ideal when you need crisp text, sharp edges, or transparency support. Drop one or many JPG files and download the converted PNGs instantly. Batch conversion is supported. Everything runs in your browser with no upload, no sign-up and no watermark. Note that PNG files are typically larger than JPGs because PNG uses lossless compression.

When to use it
Keep a logo sharp while editing
If you have a JPG logo and want to edit it repeatedly in an image editor, convert it to PNG first by setting "Output format" to PNG. Further saves will not add new compression loss.
Screenshots saved as JPG
Text in screenshots looks cleaner when stored as PNG. Drop the JPG screenshots, convert, and use "Download all (ZIP)" to collect them.
Meet a PNG-only upload requirement
Some forms accept only PNG. Convert the JPG, check the "After" size, and if it is too large add a "Max size (longest side)" limit such as 1280 px before converting again.
How to use
- Drop JPG images into the box or click to choose them.
- Set the output format to PNG.
- Press Convert and download PNG files individually or all at once as a ZIP.
How it works
Each JPG image is decoded by your browser and drawn onto an HTML Canvas element, then re-encoded as a PNG. Since PNG is lossless, the output preserves every pixel exactly as decoded. Note that converting from JPG to PNG cannot restore detail lost during the original JPG compression, but the PNG will not degrade further on subsequent saves. The process runs entirely client-side in your browser. How to verify. Also available as a free REST API for developers and AI agents (edge-processed, zero retention).

FAQ
Will converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. PNG preserves the image exactly as decoded from the JPG, but it cannot restore detail already lost during JPG compression. The benefit is that the PNG will not degrade further when saved again.
Why are PNG files bigger than JPGs?
PNG uses lossless compression, which preserves every pixel. JPG uses lossy compression that discards some visual data to achieve smaller files.
Can I add transparency after converting?
The converted PNG has a white background where the JPG was opaque. To add transparency, use an image editor or the Background Remover tool.
Can I convert many files at once?
Yes. Drop or select multiple JPG files. They are all converted and can be downloaded individually or as a ZIP.
Are my images uploaded?
No. All conversion runs locally in your browser using HTML Canvas. Images never leave your device.
Will the PNG look better than the JPG?
No. Detail already lost in the JPG does not come back. PNG simply stops further loss when you save it again.
Can the PNG have a transparent background?
No. The picture was opaque as a JPG and stays opaque. Making areas transparent needs a background removal tool, which is not part of this converter.
Is the file size increase normal?
Yes. The page shows a note that PNG is lossless so files can become larger. Choose JPG or WEBP if size matters more.
