How it works
Your PDF is read by pdf.js, which renders page thumbnails right in your browser. When you save, pdf-lib copies the selected pages into a new PDF without re-rendering, so text, images and vector graphics remain pixel-perfect. Because everything happens client-side, the file is never uploaded to any server. This makes it ideal for confidential contracts, tax forms and medical records. You can verify this yourself by checking the Network tab in your browser's developer tools. How to verify. Also available as a free REST API for developers and AI agents (edge-processed, zero retention).

FAQ
How do I split a PDF into individual pages?
Open your PDF here, select just one page at a time, and press "Save selected pages only." Repeat for each page you need. For bulk splitting, select groups of pages and save each group separately.
Can I extract only certain pages from a PDF?
Yes. Click the pages you want (use Shift+click for a range), then press "Save selected pages only" to create a new PDF with just those pages.
Does splitting a PDF reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, with no re-compression or re-rendering. Text, images and vector graphics stay identical to the original.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript (pdf.js and pdf-lib). Your file never leaves your device, which makes it safe for confidential documents.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Remove the password first with the Unlock PDF tool, then open the unlocked file here to split it.
Can it split a PDF into many files automatically?
No. It saves the pages you select as one new PDF. To split into several files, do it in rounds, each with a new selection.
Can I split by file size?
No. There is no option for maximum size per file. Split by page selection and check the file sizes afterwards.
Is there a page limit?
No fixed limit is shown. Very large documents depend on your device memory, and the tool tells you if it cannot open or save a file.
